The coach for a Russian amateur ice hockey team became a hero on Sunday when his quick intervention saved the life of one of the players on the ice. The local game between Soyuz and NBD-bank saw player Dmitry Tuturkin on the receiving end of a brutal body-check - and propelled into the boards, smashing his head. Soyuz coach Ivan Orlov, a former player himself, swiftly raced to the scene and administered heart massage after clearing the players airways - before paramedics arrived. It was later reported that Tuturkin suffered a broken collarbone and ribs in the incident, but was expected to make a full recovery.
