Football: North Korea snatch Vietnam’s quarter-finals dream at AFC U-23 Championships

North Korea defeated Vietnam in a group D thrilling encounter to end their hopes in the AFC Under-23 Championships. Vietnam lost 1-2 to North Korea and failed to progress to the knockout stage of the competition. Nguyen Tien Linh drew the first blood in the 16th minute for the 2018 AFC Under-23 Championship finalists Vietnam. Nine minutes later the scoreline read 1-all through Vietnam goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung’s own goal. Ri Chung-Gyu of North Korea scored in the 90th minute by converting the penalty kick and it was all over for Vietnam in the tournament.
