Host nation Indonesia beat Chinese Taipei 3-1 in their Group A opener. Egy Maulana Vikri scored the first goal for Indonesia in the 50th minute. Wang Chung-Yu of Chinese Taipei levelled the match in the 53rd minute. Sulaeman restored Indonesia’s lead in the 70th minute. Sulaeman scored his second goal in the 89th minute to seal a 3-1 win for Indonesia
