Football: England beat Brazil 2-1 in SheBelieves Cup opening game

The 2019 SheBelieves Cup got underway on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Talen Energy Stadium - the home of Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union. The opening match saw England take on Brazil and score twice in the second half for a come-from-behind 2-1 victory. Ellen White's left-footed strike inside the far post in the 49th minute tied the match at one and second-half substitute Beth Mead put the English ahead with a long ball from the wing that beat the goalkeeper Aline in the 75th minute. Andressa Alves opened the scoring for Brazil with a penalty in the 16th minute after Marta was fouled in the box. The United States faced Japan in the second half of the doubleheader. Brazil will take on Japan next, while England play the U.S. - both on 2 March at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
