Football: Dubious penalty as Al Wasl beat Al Nassr 1-0 in AFC Champions League opener

A controversial 62nd-minute penalty from Brazilian midfielder Fabio Lima decided the outcome as Group A of the AFC Champions League got underway on Monday - Al Wasl of the United Arab Emirates narrowly beating Saudi side Al Nassr 1-0 in Dubai. The visitors had their chances - Abderazak Hamdallah was denied by a superb save from Al Wasl goalkeeper Humaid Abdulla just before half-time and went close again a couple of times in the second period. But the crucial moment came in the 61st minute - Al Wasl striker Yousef Ahmed went down in the penalty area under a challenge from defender Abdullah Madu and the referee pointed to the spot. There appeared little contact and Madu looked like he played the ball first - nevertheless, Lima converted and Al Wasl pocketed the points.
