Football: David Villa announces his departure from NYCFC

New York City FC's first-ever captain will be leaving the club ahead of the January transfer window. David Villa has decided to depart the MLS side after scoring 80 goals in 124 appearances. He was the 2016 MLS MVP and was an All-Star in all four of his seasons in the league. The Spanish World Cup winner is planning on continuing his playing career elsewhere but has yet to announce where. Rumours have Japan as a possible destination for El Guaje.
