Benfica won 2-0 away to Santa Clara in the Portuguese Primeira Liga under the guidance of caretaker coach Bruno Lage following the sacking of Rui Vitoria. The win takes the Lisbon club up to second in the table, one point above Sporting Braga and four behind leaders Porto, who visit fourth-placed Sporting today. After hesitation in the home defence allowed Haris Seferovic to open the scoring for Benfica on 22 minutes. Santa Clara were reduced to ten men when Fabio Cardoso was shown a red card for a foul on Pizzi seven minutes before the break. Jardel headed home Benfica's second two minutes into the second period.
