Football: Al Wehdat go top of Group A after beating Nejmeh 1-0 in the AFC Cup

Jordan's Al Wehdat began their 2019 AFC Cup campaign with a 1-0 win at home over Nejmeh of Lebanon on Monday. The hosts got off to a great start with Saeed Al Murjan putting them ahead from close range in the 11th minute. Both teams were then reduced to ten men in first half stoppage time - Wehdat's Hamza Aldaradreh and Mouhamed Chamouss of Nejmeh were both dismissed for violent conduct. Nejmeh's best chance to equalise came in the 79th minute but Hassan Maatouk failed to find the target after singlehandedly taking on most of the Wehdat defence. However, Al Wehdat held on and go top of Group A with the win after Al Jaish of Syria drew 1-1 with Palestine's Al Quds.
