Al Ain moved to within five points of the Arabian Gulf League leaders following a 2-1 win over Al Nasr. The hosts had initially fallen behind after Alvaro Negredo scored from the penalty spot in the 26th minute after Saeed Juma Hassan had felled Brazilain attacker Junior Dutra. That lead was short lived and it was a former Al Nasr player, Jamal Maroof, who levelled the scoring when he volleyed home in the 28th minute. The game looked to be heading for a draw before substitute Diaky Ibrahim netted a free-kick with four minutes remaining to seal the victory for Al Ain. That sees Al Ain move up to 35 points, behind Al Sharjah, while Al Nasr slip to 11th with 16 points after 16 matches.
