Football: Al Ain beat River Plate 5-4 on penalties to reach the final of the Club World Cup

Al Ain booked their place in the final of the Club World Cup, beating River Plate 5-4 on penalties after the match was level at 2-2 after extra time.n own goal from Javier Pinola had given Al Ain a surprise lead in just the third minute, before two quick fire scores from Rafael Borre saw the Argentine side lead 2-1 at the break. Caio pulled Al Ain level five minutes into the second half, and when Gonzalo Martinez missed from the penalty spot for River Plate, the match headed into extra time. With neither side able to conjure a winner, it fell to penalties. The shootout was poised at 4-4 when Rayan Yaslam Mohamed put Al Ain 5-4 ahead with his effort into the top right corner. Enzo Perez's lacklustre effort was saved by Khalid Essa, to ensure that it was Al Ain who progress to the tournament final.
