Football: Age is just a number - Chelsea's Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva was officially presented at Chelsea on Tuesday, on his 36th birthday, and revealed his desire to help the youngsters in the side win trophies with his wealth of experience. Silva brought to an end eight years with Paris St Germain by joining the Blues on a free transfer and said he is ready for the challenge of Premier League football. Chelsea have spent more than £200million on Frank Lampard's summer overhaul, with Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell all on board with the Blues. Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy's arrival should be announced shortly too, with Chelsea heavily backing Lampard's new Stamford Bridge era. Lampard hopes Silva can add leadership and direction to his leaky defence, with the vastly experienced centre-back admitting the manager's faith proved central to his decision to join the Blues.
