Cricket News: Agarkar, Maninder, Chetan Sharma apply for selectors' post

The BCCI is all set to have a new national selection committee and some of the high-profile former cricketers have applied for the vacant positions from the respective zones. Chetan Sharma and Maninder Singh have applied from the North Zone while Shiv Sundar Das comes into a draw from the East Zone. Former India cricketer Ajit Agarkar has thrown his hat into the ring for the post of the selector of the national team. Earlier this year too Agarkar was one of the candidates who had applied for the position but missed out, probably due to the zonal policy. Agarkar is a member of 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad. He will be a strong contender to head the panel if picked. Agarkar has vast experience in playing for India at the senior level with 191 ODIs, 26 Tests and 4 T20Is. The three vacancies in the selection panel were created after Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe and Devang Gandhi completed their four-year stint. Earlier in the year, MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda had completed their terms. They were replaced by Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh.
