Badminton News: Tight schedule hurting the shuttlers

The long and tight scheduling of the Badminton World Federation has been criticised by a lot of international players. The BWF’s ruling that says that a singles player in the top 15, has to play a minimum of 12 tournaments, has resulted in a lot of injuries to top level players including Indians. The foreign players who have been laid low by injuries include World champion Victor Axelson and Jan O Jorgensen. Leading Indian players Saina Nehwal was down with knee injury while PV Sindhu had an ankle injury during the Commonwealth Games. Also, Kidambi Srikanth has a leg injury since November 2017. With shuttlers rallying up to put up a great show in the upcoming BWF world championships, Asian games and Commonwealth games the injuries can prove a major blow to the medal dreams of India.
