Asian Games: Lighting of the flame to start the 2018 Asian Games torch relay

The lighting of the 2018 Asian Games flame took place in New Delhi, India ahead of the start of the torch relay for the 18th edition of the Games, which will be held in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. For the first time, the Asian Games will be co-hosted in two cities and eSports and canoe polo will be contested as demonstration sports in 2018, with eSports to become a medal event in 2022. The Games, recognised officially by the IOC (International Olympic Committee), are billed as the world's second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics.
