Golf: Olson leads after first day at the Women's Open

American Amy Olson has described the opening day of the Women's Open at Royal Troon as the 'best ball striking of her life'. The 28-year-old carded a 67 to finish the day at four-under, three strokes ahead of German Sophia Popov (70) and fellow American Marina Alex (70) at one-under. Her round didn't begin well with a bogey on the par-4 third, but she immediately picked up a shot on the following hole and another two holes later. Three more birdies on the back nine left her with a handy lead over the strong field.
