Brooks Koepka made a strong start to the defence of his World Golf Championship title at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational on Thursday. Koepka shot an eight under par 62 and holds a two shot lead over American compatriots Rickie Fowler and Todd Brandon after the first round at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. South Korea's Sung Kang lies a further shot back on 5-under, with Matt Kuchar leading a quartet of players who returned four under par rounds of 66. Some of the big names stuggled on the opening day - Rory McIlroy could only manage a three over par 73 and Jordan Spieth had an ugly double bogey seven on his card on his way to a 2-under 68.
