Newly-elected Barcelona president Joan Laporta toured the club's facilities in the Catalan capital on Monday and met with players and officials, some of whom he apprared to recognise from his first term at Barca. He also met with current first team head coach Ronal Koeman. 58 year-old Laporta oversaw the appointment of Pep Guardiola as head coach in his previous spell at the club between 2003-2010 and witnessed the arrival of the likes of Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o. He succeeds Josep Maria Bartomeu, who resigned in October. The election, which was postponed from January because of coronavirus restrictions in Catalonia, saw Laporta take 54 per cent of the vote after roughtly half of Barcelona's eligible members took part.
