The teenager, who made his first-team debut for Salzburg in January 2021, is thought to have admirers at Newcastle United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and of course Manchester United.
Benjamin Sesko is apparently being watched by Manchester United, who are looking into the prospect of bringing the young striker to Old Trafford. The Red Devils are "well-informed" about the 19-year-old, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
During his youth, Sesko played for Radece, Rudar Trbovlje, and Krsko. For the latter, at the Under-15 level, he reportedly scored 59 goals in 23 games before moving on to two-time Slovenian champions Domzale.
The teenage player later joined Salzburg in June 2019 and signed a three-year contract with the Austrian powerhouses, although from 2019 to 2021, he played for Salzburg's feeder club FC Liefering.
Sesko scored 22 goals in 44 appearances during his productive time at Liefering, including 21 goals in 29 games in the Austrian Second League in 2020-21. The attacker eventually made his Salzburg debut in January 2021, but his breakthrough season-2021-2022-saw him score 11 goals and record seven assists in 37 games.
Sesko has already made a strong start to the new season, tallying two goals and one assist in just two outings. This included a goal and an assist in Salzburg's Austrian Bundesliga season opener against Austria Vienna on Friday.
He has scored 13 goals overall in 40 games for Salzburg, and he has netted twice in 13 appearances for Slovakia. His most recent goal came in the UEFA Nations League against Serbia in June of this year.
Sesko, a two-time champion of the Austrian Bundesliga, made history by scoring Slovakia's youngest-ever goal against Malta in October of last year. He had previously made history by making the nation's youngest-ever debut against North Macedonia in June of 2021, one day after turning 18 years old.
"Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy,"
Sesko told reporters
"They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is. My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I'm better than him!"
Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, has stated that Salzburg finally prevailed in the competition, paying a fee of £2.2 million, despite competition from a number of "very large clubs" back in 2019.
Ajax's Antony is rumoured to be the top target for new head coach Erik ten Hag, and Man United are expected to sign at least one attacker before the end of the transfer season.
The Brazilian international, however, won't be departing this summer, according to the Dutch champions, which might cause the team to turn its focus to Sesko.
Although Salzburg is in a strong position to secure the teenager's future because of a contract that runs until June 2026, the Austrian powerhouses will eventually lose him.
Although Romano claims that nothing is "imminent or advanced" at the moment, Man United is likely to make a move if they feel they are losing the Slovenian striker, who has the potential to become one of the best in European football in the years to come.
