Football News: Thomas Tuchel 'wants Manchester United's Casemiro at Bayern Munich'

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchelis allegedly interested in signing Man United midfielder Casemiro this summer. After nine trophy-laden years at Real Madrid, Casemiro opted to seek greener pastures.

Thus, the Brazilian joined Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in a £70 million transaction last summer. The 31-year-old has since proven himself as an important cog in Ten Hag's machine,

The Ex-Madrid star registered five goals and seven assists in 44 games for Man United across all competitions. Casemiro's experience and leadership in the lynchpin role has made the Red Devils appear to be a stronger outfit in midfield.

He has helping United to compete for a place in the top four of the PL while also winning the EFL Cup and reaching the FA Cup final. The Brazil international is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026, and he is expected to retire as a Red Devil.

While according to German news site Kicker, Bayern Munich manager Tuchel is eager to bring Casemiro to the Allianz Arena. According to the source, Tuchel believes his existing midfield alternatives lack the essential skill set to play in defensive midfield.

Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka have frequently partnered one another in the middle of the pitch, but Tuchel believes the duo are better suited to the No.8 role than the more defensive No. 6 one where Casemiro has thrived throughout his career.

The same can be said about Ryan Gravenberch, who has been linked with a move away from the Bavarian club owing to a lack of playing time, and summer signing Konrad Laimer, who has agreed to join the club on a free transfer from RB Leipzig.

Meanwhile, the future of Manchester United loanee Marcel Sabitzer is unknown, with the Austria international thought to be open to a permanent move to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag praised Casemiro's character last month and was always convinced that the Brazilian could assist enhance his squad.

"Casemiro has not surprised me - absolutely not,"

Ten Hag told reporters as quoted by Goal.

"I knew what a magnificent player he was. Just look at his profile, all the cups he's won, that's not a coincidence. Like [Raphael] Varane, he has won five Champions Leagues, that's not a coincidence."

"For me it's always the same, you have players who win, and who win always, and players who lose and are always losing. You have to do your research and find the type who will win and who are cooperative and humble in the dressing room but when on the pitch they take responsibility."

"Casemiro is such a leader and so important for us,"

the Dutchman added.

"Not only with his performances and skills, like scoring goals with his headers, or linking up, or intercepting balls, but also his organisation, his mentality, the culture he projects. We are so happy that we signed him."

Bayern Munich are also rumoured to be looking for a new center-forward this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, Napoli's Victor Osimhen, and Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani all on their radar.
