Football News: Real Madrid to battle with Arsenal and Man United for Gabri Veiga

Real Madrid will compete with Manchester United and Arsenal for the services of Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga. The 20-year-old, who began the 2022-23 season as a member of the club's "B" team, has somewhat of a breakout season in La Liga.

In Sunday's 3-0 home victory over Real Valladolid, Veiga was a key player, scoring twice after assisting on Haris Seferovic's first goal. Thus, Veiga's game-winning performance brings his season total to eight goals and three assists throughout his 22 La Liga matches.

Despite Veiga's contract with Celta running through June 2026, the La Liga team is aware about his demand in the transfer market. According to a recent rumour, Veiga is a target for both Arsenal and Manchester United, but the two Premier League teams might have competition from the European champions.

As the Celta academy graduate is reportedly one of Real Madrid's prospective summer transfer targets, according to Cadena SER. However, reports also claim that Los Blancos are prioritising moves for BvB's Bellingham and Napoli's Kvaratskhelia.

Veiga is undoubtedly on their radar, however Bellingham may be their primary midfield target. A prospective deal for the Celta player could hinge on the fates of a number of Real Madrid players.

Currently, the contracts of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Dani Ceballos, and Marco Asensio expire at the end of the current campaign. Thus, the current Spain champions will be eager to find the replacements in the middle of the park.

Veiga's contract apparently contains a €40 million (£35.5 million) release clause, but Los Blancos are not willing to spend that sum to get the midfielder.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, is rumoured to be eager to start talks with Celta about a player-plus-cash trade.

Atletico Madrid, who are their city neighbours, are also expected to join the competition to sign Veiga, who may receive many offers during the summer transfer window.

On Thursday's first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, Real Madrid will take on their fierce rivals Barcelona.

In contrast, Veiga is anticipated to play when Celta travels to Pamplona to take on Osasuna in a La Liga matchup on Sunday.
