Ralf Rangnick admitted that Manchester United's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday had felt like a defeat.
The United boss called the result "extremely disappointing" after his side squandered a two-goal first-half lead at Villa Park.
Bruno Fernandes netted twice in the first half only for Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho to restore parity in the 77th and 81st minute respectively.
Despite rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo holding crisis talks with his agent Jorge Mendes last week, Rangnick insisted that the 36-year-old Portuguese star had not featured in the game because of a hip flexor problem.
Ronaldo is expected to be available for United's FA Cup fourth-round match against Brentford on Wednesday.
