The former Chelsea defender was quick to remember the difficulties of breaking into the first team. Michael Mancienne: "Obviously now with Frank [Lampard] in there, he’s given a lot of young boys opportunities, I think that’s massive and it gives you a lot of hope. When I was there it was difficult. I went on loan a good few times and like you said ‘the Chelsea loan army’, there’s a lot of young boys out on loan trying to make a name for themselves. They are one of the best clubs’ in the world and it’s a tough place to break into. Obviously it is a proud moment when one of the young boys breaks into the first team. For me as well, I’ve experienced what they’ve experienced, coming through the ranks, so it’s great to see. I’m over the moon for them and I hope they can keep their place, do well and stay in the team."
