Football: Atletico-PR beat Penarol in the first leg of Copa Sudamericana

Atletico Paranaense took the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana second round match with Penarol, 2-0. The Brazilian side triumphed in the contentious affair despite being a man down for almost 20 minutes. The home side should have taken an early lead in the first half when Marcelo Cirino was tripped in the Uruguayan penalty area in the 9th minute, but Penarol's Kevin Dawson made a quality save on Raphael Veiga poor effort from the penalty spot.
