Al Ain defeated Team Wellington in Club World Cup play-off classic. Trailing 3-0 in the first half, Al Ain produced a stunning comeback to level at 3-3 and knocked out Team Wellington after a penalty shoot-out 1st round match at the FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi. Mario Barcia's stunning strike put Wellington ahead in the 11th minute. Aaron Clapham doubled the advantage just four minutes later. Mario Ilich put the New Zealanders further ahead in the 44th minute before Tsukasa Shiotani pulled one back in the dying seconds of the first half. Tongo Doumbia in the 49th - and substitute Marcus Berg in the 85th completed a remarkable comeback by the UAE side. Extra time failed to separate the sides - penalties, of course, did. Wellington skipper Justin Gulley failed to beat Khalid Essa - Al Ain winning the shoot-out 4-3.
