Football: Ajax beat FC Utrecht 3-1 in Eredivisie

Ajax stayed in touch with Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven after beating fourth-placed Utrecht 3-1. An unmarked Kasper Dolberg put Ajax ahead after 14 minutes, and he then earned the visitors a penalty following a rash challenge from Willem Janssen. Dusan Tadic sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2-0 on the hour mark. Immediately afterwards, the game was marred by Utrecht fans who threw a firework perilously close to Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana. Play resumed after a short delay, and 10 minutes later Utrecht found the perfect response with a headed goal from Nick Venema before Ajax wrapped up the win through Frenkie de Jong in the dying seconds. The victory sends Ajax into the Christmas break two points behind leaders PSV.
