Cycling: Alaphilippe dedicates Tour de France stage win to late father

Julian Alaphilippe outsprinted Marc Hirschi to win stage two of the Tour de France and take hold of the yellow jersey on Sunday - the Frenchman capturing his fifth stage victory in Le Tour. Alaphilippe, who wore the maillot jaune (yellow jersey) for 14 days of last year's race, attacked during an uncategorised climb with 13 kilometres to go on a 186-kilometre course that started and finished in Nice. Hirschi and Adam Yates gave chase and formed a three-man breakaway, but Alaphilippe was too strong for both riders as he sprinted to victory with the peloton rapidly closing in. The Deceuninck-Quick-Step rider dedicated the stage win to his late father, Jo, who passed away at the end of June following a long illness.
