Cricket News : The Ashes- Cummins takes five to help Australia bowl England out for 147

Pat Cummins reflected on his side's "dream start" to the 2021-22 Ashes series after the Australia captain took five wickets on day one of the first Test in Brisbane on Wednesday as England were bowled out for 147.

The tourists won the toss and opted to bat, only for Mitchell Starc to remove opener batter Rory Burns with the first ball of the series.

Dawid Malan soon followed and captain Joe Root got out without adding a run - England toiling on 11 for 3 at that stage - before Ben Stokes struggled to make any headway on his return to Test cricket.

Jos Buttler and Ollie Pope put on 39 and 35 runs respectively, and shared a 52-run sixth wicket partnership, but England were all out before tea.

Rain washed out the final session, but it wouldn't be enough to dampen Australian enthusiasm after a dominant opening day of the series.
