Cricket News: Stephen Fleming comments on rumours of MS Dhoni retiring after IPL 2023

The great stumper-batter MS Dhoni, according to Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming, will not retire from professional cricket after the current IPL 2023 season.

Notably, Dhoni's retirement has been one of the most talked about subjects in the cricketing world for quite some time, with many speculating that this is his final season in the cash-rich competition.

However, the former New Zealand cricketer stated that the 41-year-old has not mentioned it in the CSK dressing room.

However, Dhoni himself spoke about his retirement in a very subtle way, saying after the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens that the fans may have come in yellow to bid him farewell.

Nonetheless, based on what Fleming has said about MS Dhoni, it will almost certainly have a positive impact on the fans.

The great player and coach stated that the CSK captain has neither indicated or expressed a desire to retire. As a result, Dhoni will very certainly continue his professional cricket career beyond the IPL 2023.

Despite scoring 200 runs, Chennai Super Kings were defeated by Punjab Kings by four wickets on April 30 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bangalore. The visitors got off to a good start in the second innings, with Prabhsimran Singh leading the charge with 42 runs off 24 deliveries.

Later on, Liam Livingstone hit a brilliant 40-run knock off 24 deliveries, but Punjab were still not in control as Sri Lanka pacer Matheesa Pathirana was phenomenal near the end.

Jitesh Sharma, the stumper-batter, played a significant role once again, scoring 21* runs off 10 deliveries.

Notably, Punjab were under a lot of pressure with three runs to score in the penultimate delivery, but Zimbabwe international Sikandar Raza held his nerves and pulled off an amazing triumph for the Shikhar Dhawan-led side.

As a result, Punjab currently have ten points and are ranked fifth on the IPL Points Table, while Chennai, with ten points from nine matches, is ranked fourth.
