India’s women’s team suffered a blow as Smriti Mandhana was ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa after she suffered a toe injury during a practice session. Seam bowling all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has been added to the team as a replacement. It has been learnt that Smriti has fractured her toe, and could be out of action for a while now. She had a ordinary outing in the T20Is, scoring just 46 runs in four innings. Talking about the inujury head coach WV Raman said that It is a mild fracture. It’s difficult to fix the timeline as she still needs to get an MRI done. There is some swelling and it has to die down for the MRI to be taken. An assessment can be made only after that.
