Cricket News: Rohit Sharma injury rules him out of Dhaka Test against Bangladesh

The forthcoming Dhaka Test has been postponed due to the thumb injury that India skipper Rohit Sharma sustained during the ODI series in Bangladesh. In Mumbai, Rohit is presently getting better.

In order to have Rohit fit for at least the second Test, he was quickly taken home after suffering a thumb injury while fielding in the slips during the second ODI.

After the incident, scans showed a dislocation that required a few stitches. Although Rohit's injury is healing well, Powersportz believes it is still dangerous given the amount of cricket India will play over the next two months. Next week, the Indian skipper will probably have a medical test.

The squad for India's home ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January will be revealed in due time. After the white-ball leg, a four-match Test series against Australia will start on February 9 at home.

It is not yet known if the new selection panel will be in place when the team for India's domestic season is chosen. There had been no interviews as of Monday.

India will be led by KL Rahul in Rohit's absence, with Cheteshwar Pujara serving as his deputy. Due to Rohit's absence, Shubman Gill, who scored his first Test century in India's 188-run victory in Chattogram, would likely continue to open the batting alongside Rahul. The backup opener on the team is Abhimanyu Easwaran.

The Indian team won in Chattogram during the first session of the last day on Sunday, and they landed in Dhaka on Monday morning. Prior to the second Test at the Shere-Bangla Stadium, they are anticipated to hold two practises on Tuesday and Wednesday.

While the ICC World Test Championship table had some placement changes.

Team Bangladesh were in the ninth and last position with 13.33 percentage points going into the first Test in Chattogram, while Team India were in fourth place with 52.08 percentage points.

Team India has now climbed one position to third with 55.77 percentage points. Team Bangladesh has 12.12 percent of the vote, in contrast.
