India succumbed to a crushing 10 wicket defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. India lost their first match against Pakistan in a World Cup. After winning the toss Babar Azam decided to bowl first and left arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi wreaked havoc with the ball dismissing Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul cheaply and India lost 3 wickets in powerplay. Captain Virat Kohli fought a lone battle with a little support from wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Virat Kohli scored a 45-ball 57 and took India to 151 for 7 in 20 overs. Chasing a 152-run target Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan performed brilliantly with the bat and they ensured that Pakistan did not lose a single wicket in the power plays. They continued with their rich run of form right till the end and chased down the target in 17.5 overs to inflict India its first ever 10 wicket defeat in T20 internationals. The jinx of Pakistan against India in the World Cup is finally over. But all is not over for men in blue as they still have a lot of matches to play to qualify for the knockout stage.
