Basketball: Real Madrid secure EuroLeague playoffs place with dominant 93-67 win over Fenerbahce

Real Madrid rounded off the regular season by securing their place in the EuroLeague playoffs with a dominant 93-67 win against Fenerbahce Beko Instanbul on Thursday. The Spanish side led from start to finish and established a 20-point lead two minutes into the second quarter. Fenerbahce improved and at one stage had reduced the deficit to eight points, however the away side ran riot in the fourth, winning the quarter 26-10. Madrid were impressive from downtown as they scored 19 triples, a new club record in the EuroLeague, with a conversion rate of 50%. The trio of Fabien Causeur (20), Gabriel Deck (19) and Nicolas Laprovittola (18) were on fine form, while Fenerbahce's Nando de Colo surpassed 3,500 career points, adding 23 on the night. The victory means Real Madrid have reached the playoffs for a 19th consecutive year.
