Saina Nehwal beat Hong Kong's Chew Nang Yi 23-21, 21-17 in 42 minutes to advance to the second round of the French Open. Former world No. 1 Saina and the men's doubles pair of Satwik-sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were the only Indians to record wins as the others continued their poor run. It was a disappointing outing in the French Open but World No. 9 Saina Nehwal made sure Day 2 ended on a positive note for the country as she will now join PV Sindhu in the second round of the BWF Super 750 tournament. Sindhu had defeated Canada's Mishelle Li to move forward in the tournament.
