Wrestling News : Sushil Kumar, Sakshi Malik not in WFI’s annual contract over ‘non-performance’

Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar (74kg) and 2016 Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik (62kg) have been dropped from the Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) annual contract due to "non-performance". Teenage wrestlers Anshu Malik (57kg) and Sonam Malik (62kg) of Haryana have replaced them in the 'A Category'. World Championships bronze medallist Pooja Dhanda (57kg, 59kg) and Asian Games bronze medallist Divya Kakaran (68 kg) have been excluded from the scheme due to average performance. Sushil and Sakshi were part of 'A Category' of the contract that carried annual financial assistance of Rs.30 lakh for 2020-21 season that they could use for training and related purpose.
