Tennis: Thiem beats Federer 3-6 6-3 7-5 to take the Indian Wells title

Dominic Thiem recovered from losing the opening set to beat Roger Federer 3-6 6-3 7-5 and capture the Indian Wells title. Federer capitalised on some early errors from Thiem to snatch a break of serve in the opening set and eased into a 3-0 lead. He duly pushed on from there to take the set 6-3. But Thiem - who had won two of his four previous meetings with Federer - was playing with plenty of confidence as he sought to win his first Masters 1000 title. The Austrian took an early break in the second set, en route to taking it 6-3 and forcing the match into a decider. Both players produced some audacious play in the final set, but when Thiem seized a timely break in the 11th game, he put himself in position to serve for the title. He didn't falter, forcing an error from Federer to capture a memorable victory.
