Kiki Bertens beat two-time Madrid Open champion Simona Halep in the final following a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the Spanish capital on Saturday. Bertens needed 1 hour and 28 minutes before securing the victory which moves her up to fourth in the world rankings. That was the second time Bertens beat Halep in a WTA final following her at the Western & Southern Open in the USA in August 2018.
