Olympic flame handed over from Greece to Japan in empty Panathenaic Stadium

The Olympic flame was officially handed over from Greece to organisers of the Tokyo Games- even though the event is under severe threat from the coronavirus crisis. The ceremony in Athens was a scaled-down version of the usual handover, with just a scattering of official spectators, who were careful to sit the advised two metres apart. Coronavirus has wiped out virtually all global sport and put the Games under a cloud even though organisers still say they intend them to start on time on 24th July.
