Football: Seven goal thriller sees Porto beat Tondela 4-3

Porto moved up to second place in the Portuguese Primera Liga on Saturday after edging past Tondela in a seven-goal thriller at the Estadio do Dragao. Zaidu Sanusi opened the scoring in the 4th minute as Porto dominated the early exchanges, but Tondela equalised through Mario Gonzalez on 20 minutes and went ahead thirteen minutes later after Porto 'keeper Agustin Marchesin fumbled Rafael Barbosa's angled shot into his own net. Moussa Marega made it 2-2 almost immediately following a fortunate ricochet in the Tondela penalty area and grabbed a second shortly after the break. Then Mehdi Taremi volleyed in from close range to make it 4-2 and it seemed that Porto would win comfortably. However, Gonzalez pulled a goal back with a header on 74 minutes and that set up a tense finale. Porto hung on though and now have 19 points from nine games, four behind leaders Sporting. Tondela remain 14th, just a point above the relegation zone.
