Italian Serie A leaders AC Milan suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Atalanta on Saturday, with Mario Mandzukic unable to help turn the tide after coming off the substitutes' bench to make his debut for the 'Rossoneri'. Cristian Romero headed the visitors in front in the 26th minute and Josip Ilicic doubled the lead from the penalty spot seven minutes into the second half. Duvan Zapata then sealed the win with a goal on the break shortly after Mandzukic joined the action. Despite suffering a second defeat in four Serie A matches, Milan finished the first half of the season top of the standings and two points clear of local rivals Inter, who were held to a goalless draw at Udinese on Saturday. Atalanta extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 games and moved up into fourth place in the table.
