Football: Sassuolo become first Serie A club to return to training

Serie A club Sassuolo returned to training at the club's facilities after the government allowed individual training, as Italy begins easing the lockdown which has been in place for almost two months due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Italian government announced a week ago that individual athletes can resume training from 4th May, while teams can restart from the 18th. "The professional players will be allowed to use pitches for optional individual training. Athletes will only have access to the fields, in compliance with the rules of social distancing, while access to the Sports Center facilities (locker rooms, gyms, offices) will remain forbidden,'' the club wrote on their website. Serie A has been suspended since 9th March and no date has been set for a restart.
