Football: Nepal thrashes Bhutan 4-0 to top Group A of SAFF Cup

Both Bhutan and Nepal knew they needed all three points to help them in their quest to make it out of Group A when they faced off in the SAFF Suzuki Cup. But it was the Nepalese who got off the mark in the 21st minute. Ananta Tamang with the header from a corner kick and it was 1-0. In the second half, things took a bad turn for Bhutan as they were reduced to ten men in the 69th minute when Nima Wangdi received a second yellow for a tackle on Nirajan Khadka and gave away a penalty in the process. Sunil Bal stepped up to the spot to make it 2-0. Eight minutes later, Nepal made it three after substitute Bharat Khawas made a brilliant solo run. Nepal effectively finished off the match two minutes from time when Khadka headed home the corner kick and it was 4-0. The result puts Nepal on top of Group A with three points.
