Football: Nations League is one tournament too many - Belgium's Meunier

Belgium's Thomas Meunier slams the Nations League for adding more competition to an already packed schedule. Meunier: "When [the UEFA Nations League] was created, I thought it was purely for business, to make more money, and I still think the same. It's just playing more games, filling the calendar. There is a trophy at the end, great, but for me the calendar has been too busy for quite a few years now and reducing the number of games could only help football to evolve. There can't be more competitions added in the hope that we will succeed in improving our sport and getting the best from players and clubs in terms of quality. I think it's going to be more and more difficult. It's not physically possible. Nowadays, I see players who are 20, 21 or 22 years old, having cartilage issues, getting injections every six months or getting operations as soon as they have a problem. I think we need to find the right balance. In my opinion, the current situation, with people being fed all of these 'performances', is not the right idea."
