Football: FIFA Council approves FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan regulations

FIFA have stepped in with a multi-million dollar relief plan to help its member associations cope with the global impact of COVID-19. World football's governing body will make a total of $1.5 billion (£1.16 billion/€1.27 billion) available for its 211 member associations from the six Confederations (UEFA (Europe), CAF (Africa), CONCACAF (North and Central America), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (New Zealand and South Pacific island nations) and (Asia) AFC) to help the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The FIFA Council gave the relief plan the go ahead on 25th June. Funds will be available in three phases with the money thought to be accessible from January 2021. In addition, a grant of $2 million (US dollars) is being made available to each confederation, they are also entitled to $4 million (£2.84 million/€3.4 million) in loans. The money will be made available for member associations to use for the restart of activities and competition.
