Napoli thrash visitors Empoli 5-1 in Serie A. Dries Mertens scored a hat-trick to help Napoli cut Juventus' lead in Serie A standings. Lorenzo Insigne broke the deadlock in the ninth minute for Napoli. Mertens scored his first goal seven minutes from half-time. Napoli closed to within three points of Serie A leaders Juventus.
