Werder Bremen's hopes of Bundesliga football next season are looking shaky after they were held to a goalless draw by Heidenheim in the first leg of their relegation play-off. Heidenheim had the better of the chances to break the deadlock, but couldn't capitalise despite the hosts being reduced 10-men following Nikolas Moisand's dismissal on approach to stoppage time. In fact, the best chance of the game fell to Bremen's Josh Sargant moments later, only to be denied by former Heidenheim defender Marnon Busch on the goal-line. The teams meet again on Monday at Heidenheim in the decisive second leg.
