Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated the world number one Tai Tzu-ying in a three games thriller after two years at the BWF Tour Finals. The Indian Star shuttler PV Sindhu defeated world number one Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan 14-21, 21-16, 21-18. It was her second straight win at the BWF World Tour Finals in Guangzhou. In the first round Sindhu defeated higher ranked player Akane Yamaguchi. While Japan's Nozomi Okhara defeated former world champion Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand 14-21, 21-11, 21-14. It was Intanon’s first defeat in her two matches at the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals. In her first match of the tournament The Thai player had defeated Chen Yufei of China in three games. In men’s doubles Denmark's Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen kept their hopes of advancement alive with a victory. The pair secured a 21-17, 21-19 win over China's Han Chengkai and Zhou Haodong.
